The open Eclipse-based Shadow Studio provides a universal view into all mainframe resources, providing an intuitive interface that allows organizations to exploit existing developer skills using industry standard development environments to access or publish mainframe data, business logic or screen assets for reuse with new composite applications or deployment with SOA, business intelligence, or data warehouse initiatives.

Shadow Studio is built on Eclipse to support both Visual Studio .NET and J2EE frameworks, providing seamless integration with these development environments. This makes it easy for developers working with mainframe resources to rapidly create Web services, SQL statements, and real-time event profiles or manipulate components to create Web applications.

Intuitive Interface Supports both Visual Studio .NET and J2EE
Shadow Studio provides a universal view across all mainframe integration components, including client adapters, server, and mainframe interfaces. The Shadow Studio administrator simply chooses the mainframe data, programmatic, or screen-based target resource that needs to be exposed (DB2, CICS, IDMS, etc) along with an industry standard interface (ODBC, ADO.NET, JDBC, SOAP, BPEL, etc.). A few simple steps later, the mainframe data source is available to be used like any relational Java or .NET object. The Shadow Studio interface layer enables application developers to productively build new composite applications by transparently reusing mainframe resources. Additionally, the Shadow Studio includes an industry standard Web services test tool to rapidly check the operational integrity of any mainframe Web service created by the Shadow product. A developer need only to point and click their mouse at the operation or Web service to verify the transformation process has completed. The Web services tester automatically allows the user to run a series of Web services tests from a single command.
